Although LBGQT2 stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, Queer/Questioning and 2-Spirited, the plus (+) that is usually included after the initialism encompasses a list of other identities that fall under the queer umbrella. Our group art exhibition features 17 local artists ranging in age from 12 to 65+, working in various media, focusing on the ‘+’ itself, as it indicates a range or ‘gradient’, representing the fluid spectrum of human gender and sexuality.

MAS Summer Group Shows: Online Editions “Art Under Lockdown” & “Intertidal Impressions”

Malaspina Art Society (MAS) had to cancel a planned ‘in person’ group art exhibition on the theme of “Intertidal Impressions” due to Covid-19 distancing restrictions at our venue, Vancouver Island University’s Powell River Campus. So, we invited local artists to submit to our online gallery, plus we figured we’d share some of the art we were doing under the lockdown itself, to address the ‘elephant in the room’ with a second “Art Under Lockdown” group show. Two gift certificates to Opus Art Supplies will be picked randomly (one for each gallery artist) by MAS! Stay tuned for more news on how things are progressing via this page and our social media (see right panel for links). Thanks to everyone who contributed their work! – Giovanni
