We wish our members and the qathet region arts community a safe and happy holiday season!

Things being what they are, we will keep you posted on changes to art activities we have scheduled, but as of now, we are moving ahead, albeit with a couple of changes to the schedule emailed out to members this week.

Damage Noted goes on til Dec 23

As you may know, we have resumed exhibitions at Vancouver Island University’s Powell River Campus – what we call the  Malaspina Exhibition Space, with the much-Covid-delayed (but subsequently larger) exhibition Damage Noted by rabideye-Giovanni Spezzacatena. There was a soft opening on Nov 3rd and an opening on Nov 10th. BUT the show goes on for two months, so drop on by VIU Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm and take a peek (face masks required).

VIU will be closed Dec 23-Jan 4, by the way. Works are for sale- just contact the artist giovanni@rabideye.com  Audio tour and more info (tap here)

CALL FOR ARTISTS for the Malaspina Exhibition Space  

Call to Artists for VIU…For 2 month sessions Spring and Fall 2022At the AGM the honorarium for the exhibition has been increased to $225 this is to cover your own self-promotion and to provide a CARFAC minimum fee for presenters. This year we are also adding an option of having a video of your work and a personal interview produced by Astra Balogh and a reduced honorarium of $50. This will be yours to use for self promotion. FREE Intro to XR

Presented by Giovanni Spezzacatena- Rabideye, Mighty Irreal is a short talk for the novice, geared toward local artists to introduce us to the spectrum of XR (EXTENDED REALITY) which includes Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Merged or Mixed Reality (MR), what they all mean, the technology, the social and other implications and possibilities for art production and presentation.
