SUPPORT OUR ART CARE YOUTH PROJECT

The Art Care Package Project started during the covid pandemic. Families in the qathet region were struggling in supporting children with activities at home while in isolation.

The packages were prepared and delivered through Orca bus programming, Good food boxes, Art Centre, Tla’amin Health, community support programs and volunteer deliveries.

The packages include art by local artists, sketch books, art materials, textile arts, resources and thematic creative art projects. With generous support from community partners, business sponsorships and volunteerism, the project was able to support 130 families during 2020.

This year, our goal is distribution of 200 packages. Malaspina Art Society has the opportunity to match Art Care package sponsorship funding with an ArtsVest fund.

With every dollar over $200, the fund will be doubled and go directly into helping families in the qathet community.

MAS News

The Malaspina Art Society Annual Group Show is running November 13 to January 29 at the Malaspina Art Society Exhibition Space (VIU lobby, Powell River campus).
MAS Members are invited to show a recent (2018) piece of art.  All pieces must be ready to hang.  Note for 3D, there is a small glass case for jewelry/pottery display too – but height is restricted.
The theme this year is THERMAL
Thanks to Sandra Lopez for the suggestion.  Sandra explains that she chose the word as it means a column of warm air that can be used for flying…
But you can interpret it any way you wish!
